New Photo Yearbook Documents Toronto Music Scene

It's so good to see authors and photographers FINALLY documenting Canadian music in a way that it deserves.  For years, there was precious little done in this arena but over the past couple of years, there have been a growing number of books that capture this history.  Good.

Ivy Lovell is a Toronto-based photographer who spends an awful lot of time at gigs.  Over the past year, she's isued a series of photo books on a bi-monthly schedule.  On January 19, she'll release The League Yearbook, a collection of a year's worth of pictures taken at shows in Toronto and across North America.

Here's what she says:

This project is intended to contextualize Toronto's very alive music scene on an international scale, it places Toronto bands where they belong, right next to talent from across the continent.  The book itself creates something lasting out of the medium of concert-photography, something that predominately exists online.

Check out some of her work here.
