Albums to Watch for in 2012

The music industry really won't kick back into gear until the week of January 9, but when it does, it will hit the ground running. There's a lot coming up in 2012.
January 10: Snow Patrol's Fallen Empires will be released in Canada.
January 15: Captain Beefheart's "forgotten" album, Bat Chain Puller.
January 17: I have high hopes for Future This from The Big Pink.
January 24: Craig Finn of the Hold Steady's solo album, Clear Heart Full Eyes comes out. And what will Cloud Nothings deliver wtih Attack on Memory?
January 31: Lana Del Ray's amazing rise continues with the release of Born to Die. That's the same day as Old Ideas, the first Leonard Cohen studio album since 2004.
January TBA: Van Halen (DLR, EVH, AVH and Eddie's kid, Wolfgang). Expect to see the album out in time for a Grammy appearance on February 12.
February 7: More metal from Silverstein in the form of Short Songs. At the other end of the scale, Le Voyage Dans La Lune from Air. And did I mention Hotel Sessions from Evan Dando and the Lemonheads?
February 14: Sleigh Bells. Can't wait for Reign of Terror.
February 21: Mona, a much hyped US guitar band, release their self-titlted debut. And I like what I've heard from Band of Skulls' Sweet Sour.
February 28: The Cranberries are back. Those who have heard Roses--their first album since Wake Up and Smell the Coffee in 2001--say it's very good.
March 6: The title is interesting: Start the Revolution Without Me from the Kaiser Chiefs.
March 19: Spiritualized! Sweet Heart Sweet Light.
March 20: Sharks. Watch this band. No Gods could be a sleeper.
March 27: Paul Weller and Sonik Kicks.
March TBA: Madonna.
April 10: Slash's new solo album. Still waiting on a title.
April 24: My Darkest Days. No title yet.
April TBA: The Hives.
May TBA: Keane, Children of Bodom, Stars, Temper Trap.
June TBA: Metric and (finally!) Rush with (I think) Clockwork Angels.
Early fall TBA: Black Sabbath, Green Day.
No info yet: Tragically Hip (plus a bunch of deluxe reissues), Bruce Springsteen (probably around Christmas), No Doubt, Muse, Nine Inch Nails AND How to Destroy Angels, Garbage, Johnny Marr, Franz Ferdinand, Pearl Jam, Sigur Ros, Offspring, Killers, The xx, ZZ Top, Aerosmith and--maybe--U2's Songs of Ascent.

You forgot Cancer Bats
I gave the Cranberries pre-release song, Show Me the Way, a listen last month. Eah, nice but it was dull. It missed out on reaching my top 100.

No, it's a different song/ (or band), same title. The desperate mark of a 'cheap hit' effort.
