No Oscar for Trent Reznor This Year. But a Conchord Might Make It.
The nominations for the Academy Awards were announced this morning (The Artist for Best Picture? Really? I fell asleep. Twice.) and sadly, the Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross score for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo failed to make the cut. But that's okay. They've got their Oscar, their Golden Globe and their Grammy. Best concentrate on getting the Emmy and Tony so they can complete the EGOT.
On the other hand, Madonna didn't get nominated for anything from W.E., although she won at the Golden Globes. That's fine by me. And Bret McKenzie, one half of Flight of the Conchords, has a nominated for "Man or Muppet" from recent Muppets movie.
The good news is that he has a 50-50 chance of winning because there are only TWO songs nominated for Orginal Song this year.
Yay, Bret! Band meeting! Let's discuss!

There are only two nominees in this category this year, I thought there were usually like 5 or 6?
Thank GOD there are only 2 nominees, since the vast majority of nominees are simply some song jammed into the credits having nothing to do with the actual story and the nomination is an ego-trip for someone.
Oh, I'm also sick and fucking tired of rock stars "scoring" movies and taking nominations away from experienced composers.
I expected Trent & Atticus to get it again-that score is unbelievable!
