Time to Submit Music for Consideration for the 2013 Juno Awards

Toronto, ON (October 1, 2012) - Mark your calendars!  The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced today that submissions for the 2013 JUNO Awards have opened.  A new category will be added to the Awards roster in 2013: Adult Contemporary Album of the Year.  The 42nd annual JUNO Awards and JUNO Week will be held in Regina, SK, April 15 – April 21, 2013.

Important Dates to Remember:
Submissions for the 2013 JUNO Awards opened today.  Apply online at www.junosubmissions.ca

• Early-bird deadline (to receive discounted submission rates) is October 22, 2012 before 5:00 pm (EST)
• Final submission deadline for all categories (exceptions below) is November 13, 2012 before 5:00 pm (EST)
• Final submission deadline for International Album of the Year and Album of the Year (sponsored by Music Canada) is January 11, 2013 before 5:00 pm (EST)

Eligibility:
Eligibility for the 2013 JUNO Awards applies to works released during the period between September 1, 2011 to November 13, 2012.  For a complete list of JUNO Awards categories, eligibility rules, and voting criteria go to www.junoawards.ca/submissions

Along with the announcement of submission dates and deadlines, CARAS has also introduced some new changes to the categories:

• Adult Contemporary Album of the Year – nominees will be determined by judge vote and the winner by CARAS membership
• New Artist and New Group of the Year categories have been renamed to Breakthrough Artist and Breakthrough Group of the Year (sponsored by FACTOR and Radio Starmaker Fund).  All criteria to remain the same.
• Instrumental Album of the Year is no longer a crossover category.  This means an instrumental album can no longer be submitted into another genre category (e.g. jazz or classical)
