Top 10 Worst Noises in the World

A terrible noise. Not on the list, strangely.If you're ever in my presence, do not--and I repeat, DO NOT--rub your steel cultery together.  I find that metal-on-metal sound so excruitiating and painful that I'll have to leave the table.  

You probably have the same sort of aversion to other sounds.  Nails on a chalkboard.  Squealing brakes.  A crying baby.

But why do we find these sounds so unpleasant?  Scientists are investigating the neurobiology behind this.
