5 Bands I'll Be Watching in 2013

With the new year comes fresh prospects.  Here are five bands (in no particular order) that I'll be watching closely in 2013.

1.  The Neighbourhood

British quintet that was the subject of a bidding war in the UK that resulted in a seven figure contract with Columbia.  Interesting mix of indie R&B and hip-hop.

2.  Seasfire

Four-piece from Bristol.  This is a sample of their EP, We Will Wake.

3. MS MR

I was a big fan of their song "Hurricane."  What might they do in 2013?

4.  Paper Aeroplanes

Folky stuff from Wales. Gentle and sweet.

5.  METZ

I've been following this Toronto band for a couple of years now.  Here's hoping that they'll break through big-time in 2013.  My early pick for Polaris 2013.

Bonus:  NO

From Echo Park in LA.  If you like The National, you'll appreciate this.

Alan: you should really get an amazon associates account (and the itunes equivalent), and set up links to what you post. that way you get commission to what you link to. Reason being, is that I just bought 3 albums of the artists you posted here after spending all night listening to their tracks (no, Paper Aeroplanes and Ms Mr)

Good news!

MS MR is playing Toronto, April 6 at The Opera House.

Good-or-bad-news-depending-on-your-perspective!!

They're opening for Jessie Ware.

Unfortunately I don't care for that artist too, but at $20 I'll strongly consider going anyway and skipping the main act. Or who knows, maybe Jessie Ware puts on a great live show. I didn't mind seeing Lady Gaga once.
