Welcome Deezer, Canada's Newest Streaming Service

The streaming music service industry just got a lot more crowded in Canada.  We may not have Spotify (yet), but we do have Slacker, Rdio, Mediazoic and a few others.  And now now have the France-based Deezer.

Deezer says they have 20 million users (1.5 million of which are paying subscribers), 600,000 Facebook fans and 300,000 followers on Twitter.  The company also promises users access to 15 million songs.

The service launched in Canada, New Zealand and Australia on Wednesday.  In a strange twist, the US and Japan are not included in the global rollout as Deezer believes that both countries are already well served.

Anyone willing to give it a shot?

I would really like tt.fm to open up outside the US since I work with so many Americans, it would be nice to all be able to listen to the same stuff together. I'll certainly give this a shot though! Been getting bored of Grooveshark.

I'm checking it out now - you need to sign up (for free) in order to listen to more than 30 seconds of any track. From what I've seen so far, it could be a pretty neat interface for discovering new music. The selection probably isn't as grand as rdio's, but because it's France-based the 'most popular' charts (for each genre) are quite different than what you'd find on something like rdio. I'm going to sign up and play around with it...

Update: interestingly, you can only sign up through your facebook account.

Im still enjoying Pandora. There are VPN services out there for about $40 a year which gives you a US ip address.

Works on mac/linux/win, iphone and android.

Im all ears if theres a better option out there though! But Pandora has introduced me to so much new awesome music.
