Details on the New Smashing Pumpkins Album, Oceania

What began as the 44 song Teargarden by Kaleidyscope project has resolved itself into Oceania, a more traditional 13-track album due June 19.

Many of the songs on Oceania will be familiar to the super-diehard who will recall the songs from the setlist of the most recent Pumpkins tour.  Here's the full tracklist:

As a former SP hardcore fan, I really wonder: does anyone care anymore?

The new SP is making some of the most relevant music they've made in years, so the answer is "yes".

Get over the fact that D'Arcy is a complete wreck and James and Jimmy are doing their own things now. The band was always Billy.

The musical landscape has changed, and instead of milking the past, SP is continuing to make music on their own terms. You don't have to like it, but you have to at least respect it.

And if you take a moment to listen to any of the 10 tracks (thus far) from 'Teargarden' you'll see that Billy uses the strengths and the youth of his new bandmates and has created an honest and fun sound, which is both a departure from and an extension of the old SP.
