The Craziest Music Conspiracy Theory I've Ever Heard. This Can't Be True. Or Can It?

If you were to construct wide-ranging conspiracy--one that would have implications throughout society--and it had to involve music, what would you do?

Here's a suggestion:

1. Get buy-in from all the major players in the music industry to promote a new genre guaranteed to cause a certain type of unrest resulting in many more people being sent to jail.

2. Have those same music industry players secretly invest in private jails--the facilities used to house the same people who were inspired to commit crimes by that new genre of music.

3. Cash the cheques from both the sales of the music and from various levels of government for running those private jails.

Crazy, right?  But in a world where many people believe that AIDS was a CIA plot and that 9/11 was an inside job, I can see how a something like this could gain traction within certain circles.

This scenario is exactly what's alleged in this story.  If the author is to believed (hell, if the person even exists), it's pretty scary.

Wow, that is one hell of a theory!

The biggest flaw I find is the whole "secret meeting" concept. If in fact the boards of music companies had invested in prisons and wanted to put this plan into place, then all it would take is for the chairman to tell the head of the labels that rap was where the company needed to go. No need whatsoever for that big secret meeting, and way less chance of the plot being uncovered.

As with most conspiracy theories, they get tripped up in contrived complexity instead of the better, simpler option.

I guess they need something to justify the fact hip-hop has tainted every part of our culture, from the lingo of teens and fashion, to just the glorification of violence and the gangsta lifestyle. It's even permeated how pop music is made. I actually think the whole genre sucks.

This just new my mind!! Yeah, I may be a tad of a conspiracy theory beliver (to some extent), but this kind of makes sense as to how rap changed from something of intellect to, well, bitches and hoes!
