Longest. Radio Show. Ever.

I've pulled some long airshifts in my career.  I think the longest was 8 1/2 hours--and when it was over, I was baked.

Anyone who has ever worked on-air knows that anything after six hours is torture.  Concentration slips.  Energy wanes.  Your voice starts to go.  Time to pack it in.

That's why I believe this Beligian dude is certifiably insane.  This week, Peter Van de Veire wrapped up an airshift that lasted 185 hours.  Eight days and seven nights.  Why?  To show support for students cramming for exams.

And there were some pretty strict rules.  No co-host.  No interview subject could speak for more than 60 seconds at a time.  No song could be longer than six minutes.

Coffee?  Just one cup over the whole ordeal, augmented with two bottles of cola.  Peter did treat himself to a caffeine pill every day.

If you're a jock and that six-hour Sunday morning shift seems long, think of Peter Van de Veire.  The time might go by quicker.
