How Duran Duran Used to Roll
There's an item in today's Winnipeg Free Press about Pleasure Groove, the new autobiography by Duran Duran's JohnTaylor.
When the band was on tour, each member would receive a daily itinerary to help orient them for the day. A typical one might read "Today is October 3. It is Friday. You are in Chicago."
So far, no big deal. Lots of bands have these kinds of reminders posted for them. But what made the Duran Duran itineary a little more special was a number in left-hand corner. Usually it was 18, 20 or 21.
What was that for? This indicated the legal age of consent in that particular state. Tells you something about those Duran Duran tours in those days, doesn't it?
