Man Falls into Gorge Trying to Sneak Into a Nickelback Concert
In what many will describe as a serves-you-right bit of misadventure, Kevin Beaudette of Tupper Lake, New York, survived an attempt to sneak into a Nickelback concert on Tuesday night.
Whilst trying to circumvent security at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, he took a 40-foot dive into Geyser Brook Gorge. The Albany Times-Union reports:
"Last evening an individual who appeared to be intoxicated, and who was outside the venue, apparently lost his footing and slipped down the embankment that runs along SPAC's Route 50 parking lot," SPAC President Marcia White said in a written statement.
The Saratoga Springs Fire Department helped the injured man up the embankment after medical crews were unable to retrieve him, a Saratoga Springs firefighter said Wednesday.
Neither firefighters nor SPAC officials could describe the extent of the man's injury.
"This guy was acting on his own in a highly intoxicated state near a gorge," said Dan Keefe, a spokesman for the state office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
Beaudette slipped over the edge of the Geyser Brook Gorge and fell about 40 feet.
Rescuers had to use a basket to get him out of the gorge, Keefe said.
Beaudette was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital. He was treated for bruises and cuts and released Wednesday.
No charges have been filed.

If he could have a nickel for every time he fell into a gorge trying to sneak into a concert he'd have more than what the concert was worth.
Sneaking into a Nickelback concert. Hey. We've all been there....
