Your Electronics Childhood, As Told Through the Consumers Distributing Catalogue

If you're of a certain age, you'll remember Consumers Distributing.  You could order heavily discounted good through their catalogue or you could visit one of their warehouse stores.  You'd walk in, flip through the catalogue, fill out an order form and hand it to the person behind the counter.  They'd disappear into the big back room and eventually return with your merchandise.

Dave and his buddy have fond memories of Consumers Distributing. They've launched a website featuring digitized versions of the old catalogues which can be found here. Check out the electronics gear that they offered.

Nice concept. Look at catalog, fill out a purchase slip, wait 15 minutes, and someone gets your item from a mysterious warehouse hidden out of view. Too bad it never lasted.
