Did Eddie Van Halen Almost Die Last Week?

The National Enquirer says "yes."

Eddie was taken to hospital with diverticulitis, a condition that involves small, bulging sacs or pouches of the inner lining of the intestine (diverticulosis) that get out of control, becoming inflamed or infected. The large intestine is often involved as small pieces of feces get lodged in this pouches.  You don't want that.

While diverticulitus is rather common, it can be really, really painful.  In Eddie's case, it's said that his intestines "exploded" after he took some kind of home remedy involving cayenne pepper.  Apparently, Eddie's on the Master Cleanse Diet in an effort to flush the toxins from his body.  It looks like the toxins fought back.

He's okay now, but it took a long stay in the hospital to get Eddie's guts sorted with some emergency surgery. (Via Radar)
