Very Cool New App:  Shuffler.FM

I routinely troll a whack of music blogs to see what the tastemakers, filters, reviewers and hipsters are excited about.

This, however, can be a bit of a drag.  I used a variety of aggregators to help me sort through things but there's still stuff I'm missing.  And there are plenty of sites that I still don't know about.

Entry Shuffler.fm, an app that helps you organize music blogs into a sort of magazine format for your iPhone. Before you say "Flipboard" or "Zite," it's different in that Shuffler.fm's focus is entirely on music bloggers and nothing else.

Looking through the dozens and dozens and dozens of bloggers and website, I found the famililar (Pitchfork, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound) with tons of sites I've never heard of before across all kinds of genres. This will be helpful.

And yes, this site is included.  I'd be most grateful if you chose to use this app, you "+ed" me.  I promise I won't let you down.

Read more about Shuffler.fm here.  And then grab the app here.

New Megaupload "Will Change the World"

From TorretFreak:

Several weeks ago Kim Dotcom informed the world that Megaupload would be back, bigger and better than ever. Today, in a series of announcements he’s provided more intriguing details about the new service. “We are building a massive global network,” Dotcom revealed, while adding that hosters will all be able to connect to the network to add servers and bandwidth – providing they’re not in the United States that is. “I am going to turn this world upside down,” Dotcom warned.

A Musical Cruise is So Yesterday. Time Now for an Airborne Festival.

Consequence of Sound reports on a new partnership between FILTER magazine and Virgin America for the annual Culture Collide Festival in Los Angeles.  They call it their "I'm With the Band" flight.  I quote:

Festival-goers flying from NYC to the City of Angels will be able to book a seat on the flight and DJ sets from of Montreal’s Kevin Barnes and School of Seven Bells, along with an acoustic performances by Penguin Prison. The flight leaves JFK on October 3rd at 11:30 a.m. local time and arrives at LAX at 2:40 p.m. local time.

This year’s Culture Collide will feature performances from of Montreal, Junip, Patrick Wolf, Class Actress, Tribes, Blood Red Shoes, and many more.

Then again, you'd expect an airline run by Richard Branson to do something like this, right?
