The Alphabetical Archive for 07 September 2012: Zach de La Rocha

It's a good thing that Rage Against the Machine got back together because it gives singer Zach de la Rocha something to do.

In the years the band was apart, everyone else in the band moved on.  The other three guys formed Audioslave with Chris Cornell.  When Tom Morello had some spare time, he'd work with other artists (Springsteen, for example) and formed the Nightwatchmen.

Zach?  Not so much.  He did try something with Trent Reznor (who told me "That project will never see the light of day") and there was the promise of a solo album.  But all we got were a couple of tracks that never amounted to more than post-Rage curiosities.

I do have this, though.  It's "We Want It All," a track associated with the Michael Moore movie, Fahrenheit 9/11.

The Alphabetical Archive for 06 September 2012:  Yoav

I've been a fan of this South African from the first note of his first album.  The things this dude can do with an acoustic guitar and a pedal board is astounding.  This is from his 2010 album, A Foolproof Escape Plan. The video is pretty cool, too.

The Alphabetical Archive for 04 September 2012: Wonder Stuff

A gazillion years ago, a radio interview I did with leader Miles Hunt was covered in Melody Maker.  The writer referred to me as "an affable Ian Botham lookalike."  More on the Wonder Stuff here.

The Alphabetical Archive for 03 September 2012:  Visage

Here's something from the New Romanic era of the early 80s. They didn't call the singer "Steve Strange" for nothing,

The Alphabetical Archive for 02 September 2012:  UZEB

UZEB (always all caps, please was a jazz-rock fusion band from Drummondville, Quebec. This, believe it or not, was something of an alt-radio hit in Canada in the late 80s.  The album was 1988's Noisy Nights.
